Facebook has been around for almost two decades now. It’s still the most popular social media site in the world. There are almost 3 billion active Facebook users. Regardless of your thoughts on Facebook and social media in general, it’s hard to deny that it’s a powerful and influential communication tool.
Facebook allows you to reach thousands of people just with the click of a button. This allows us to stay connected with others – one of the key factors in generating great ideas and innovation.
Are you on Facebook? If you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner, I strongly urge you to have a Facebook presence. Social media sites like Facebook are powerful tools that can propel your business forward. You don’t have to like Facebook, or even hang out there a lot, but you should have a Facebook account.
Advantages of Having a Facebook Presence
There are key benefits to having a Facebook page for your business or website. Here are a few of the main ones:
Grow Your Audience: Facebook enables you to reach a vast audience that you may not have access to otherwise.
Low-Cost Marketing: It’s free to set up a Facebook page and start posting. You can’t beat that price! However, it does cost money to do targeted advertising.
Engage with Customers: Facebook is a fantastic tool for engaging with your customers directly and getting to know them.
Build Your Brand: Your Facebook page is another tool to get your message out there to the world and familiarize others with your brand.
Your Feed vs. Your Profile vs. Your Business Page
If you’re new to Facebook, it can be confusing to figure out what you’re looking at. In this video, I explain the Facebook homepage and why things show up in your Facebook feed. I also explain the difference between your Facebook homepage and your Facebook personal profile.
Video Recap
If you go to https://www.facebook.com/ and log into your account, you’ll see your Facebook homepage (your “feed”). The feed shows posts from everyone you’re friends with, as well as sponsored ads.
On the other hand, if you go to your profile page, you will see only things that you’ve posted. For example, you can go to https://www.facebook.com/christinahills/ and you will see my personal profile. Sometimes, people have their profiles set to “private” and you won’t be able to view them if you are not a Facebook friend.
If you go to https://www.facebook.com/christinahillsbiz you will see my Business page. Creating a business page is simple and easy. I’ll walk you through the steps below.
How to Create a Facebook Business Page
Creating a Facebook Page for your business is easy. First, you’ll need to set up a Facebook account (if you don’t already have one) and log in to your account. Be sure to be thorough and complete in populating your Facebook profile. That way, you’ll be able to get visitors to your website from Facebook.
- On the left-hand sidebar, click “Pages”
- Select, “Create Page”
- Add your business name and description.
- Write some text in the About section to tell people what your business does.
- Add a profile photo and cover photo that best represents your business.
- Include a call-to-action that directs your FB page visitors to do something (like visit your website or call your office).
What to Share on Facebook?
There are lots of content ideas for you to share on Facebook. However, I recommend you do some planning before you start posting. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing about what to post:
- Testimonials and Success Stories
- Share a blog post
- Upcoming Events
- Special Promotions or Sales
- Recommendations on Valuable Tools
- Host a Contest or Giveaway
- Conduct a survey or ask for feedback
Last Step…Start Sharing
Facebook is not slowing down. It’s weathered competitors like Instagram and TikTok and is still going strong. If you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner and you’re NOT on Facebook, now is the time to sign up!
Don’t overthink it. You don’t need any fancy social media scheduling tools or an editorial calendar. Just set up your business page and start posting valuable content for your audience. Do you have any events coming up? Maybe you’re running a holiday special. Testimonials make fantastic Facebook posts.
Once you start posting on Facebook consistently, you’ll be surprised at how your audience grows and how many more people find your website. It’s a powerful and affordable tool to help you grow your business and reach more potential customers.
