If you have a WordPress website, then you probably know how easy WordPress makes it to add things to it. Why not take advantage of that feature, and add some holiday flair to your website during this season? Well I got 2 super easy things for you to add now to spice up your site!

Xmas Lights at www.websitecreationworkshop.com/blog
While there are many free plugins and online tools you can use to decorate your website for the holidays. Here are a couple that I’ve used and loved:
Hang Christmas Lights on your WordPress Site
This little plugin adds a string of animated Christmas lights at the top of a website. All you have to do is to install this plugin… No other setups are needed; you’ll instantly get a holiday look!
Xmas Lights (https://wordpress.org/plugins/xmas-lights/)
If you are reading this post during December, you’ll see it in action if you scroll up to the top.
Here is a quick video to show you how to set it up (Under 2 minutes! )
Have it Snow on Your WordPress Site
Let it snow on your WordPress site! With this plugin, you can easily add the snow of various sizes and shapes. It also allows you to change the size, speed, transparency, etc. of the snow.
WP Super Snow (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-snow/)
I’m currently using this plugin for the month of December on www.christinahills.com:
And here is another cool-looking snow plugin:
Big Snow Flakes (https://wordpress.org/plugins/big-snow-flakes/)
Different shades of these big snow flakes can help “winterize” your website!
You can read more about other WordPress snow plugins in my blog post here.
Depending on your website design, the above plugins might not work well, but there are many more available in WordPress plugin area (https://wordpress.org/plugins/) that you can experiment with. (As usual, make sure to do your own due diligence before using any plugin to ensure the compatibility with your website, etc.)
So have fun! Play around with these 2 plugins and let me know what you think!
Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and a very Happy New Year!
These look great! Thanks for them. It isn’t snowing here in Toronto but I think I’ll use the “snowing” plugin in January and February. Merry Christmas 🙂
Trudy,
Yeah I wanted to stick with simple, easy plugins that people could implement right away! Merry Christmas to you too!
Hi Christina! I recently started following you. Love your easy tips and the Christmas lights look great! Do you have info on how to change WordPress templates? Is it hard or easy? Are there things to keep in mind such as plugins? Thanks for all you do!
Marisa,
Do you mean change WordPress themes? Templates are a subset of themes. Yes I spend a whole module on Themes and choosing themes in my Website Creation Workshop course.
But do check out my Theme design report here:

As I’ve watched the video, I just realize that it is very easy to put Christmas lights on site. Thanks a lot for posting the video and the blog, really helpful to those who are interested to put Christmas lights on site.
Robert,
Glad you liked it!
Hello,
How cool is this 🙂 I work with WordPress in my company and didn’t know about this 🙂
Yes there is a lot of fun holiday stuff you can do!
Oops, sorry, the plugin for all the extra stuff is Snow, Balloons, and More- Love it!
Kathy, I used to use that one
https://wordpress.org/plugins/nksnow/
but if you look at it, it seems to have been abandoned by the plugin author. It has not been updated in over 2 years
How cool is this
