Do your website visitors stumble over your website? Would you like to make your site more user friendly? Well I have a great book recommendation to give you: “Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability” (2nd Edition) by Steve Krug
It‘s a book designed for the non-techie business owner that shows you how to create a website that is easy to navigate for your visitors, and helps you to design your site for the best user experience.
It’s a fun and fast read, great images and layout. You can finish it in a couple of evenings. It’s one of my top recommended books for anyone who owns a website.

That’s a good tip Christina. I look forward to hearing this perspective in class! It is just what I am working on this time around.
Joan,
get the book if you don’t have it. You will love it!
Ordered! + a nice little dressage training book I’ve had on my wish list… From your Link 🙂
Joan,
Let me know what you think of the book
A great book to reference, so true.
A lot more thought provoking (than I hoped) so it will take time to digest, and that will suit the tweaking process.
I can upload my new site and as I read the book and contemplate the site the small changes won’t look as huge as the new site looks.
So the fast look is over, now the perusing 🙂
A WONDERFUL book!
I know what to think about so my customers don’t have to.
Changing everything now. So glad I know how to make the changes effectively!
Great timing! I was just thinking about how to make my web site more user friendly. I’m going for clear, focused and clean.
Elizabeth,
this book will help you focus on that
Hi! That sounds great! I would love to get some critiques on my website I am building with wordpress, what do you think of the header and layout? http://www.mamasmarketplace.com
Thanks
Kristina
very nice
🙂
I see this book was published in 2005. Is it really still relevant?
Get the second edition. And yes, it’s still relevant. That is why I recommend it, it’s platform independent
Good recommendation, Christina. Krug’s book is insightful and well illustrated. I have it and use it.
I have both the first and second edition, it was that good!
Excellent book! In fact, it is a good reminder to re-read it as I am about to undertake a site redesign.
Kim,
I also love how he did the layout in the book
would this be good for someone just starting to build website?
Debi,
yes this is especially good for someone who is just starting out. It will point you in the right direction of how to build a good website that people can use easily and understand
Excellent recc Christina! I’ve had this one in my “must-have” library for several years now and it was worth every penny. I love the simplicity of it (and the pictures *smile*).
This is one of my favourite web design resources. With consumers being so busy it is our responsibility as business owners to let them know how to get the most from our sites very simply. Thanks for putting the recommendation out there.
Kathy, I love the message of the book, and I love the graphics in the book
I finished recreating my website and what a timely appearance this book was.
It made all the difference.
Everything I have learned over the last 2 years (nearly) went into it.
I can’t believe how much I still need to learn!
If you have a screen shot of the former, this one is completely different. I didn’t think to take before and after pictures. As engrossed as I was in doing it!
