What are you passionate about? What is that dream inside of you that is burning to come out but is stuck somehow? Or stuck by others?
Today is Valentine’s Day, and I’m asking you not only to think about your loved ones but to think about YOU. The passion you have inside of you that you want to share with the world. I got this video clip from the movie “August Rush.” It’s a movie about an orphan boy with a passion for music and a strong belief that his parents are still alive. He believes that if he can play his music, his parents will “hear” him and find him.
“Your passion is inside of you. All you have to do is listen to it!”
So what is your passion?
What is your product, your cause, idea, or thing that you want to share with the world?
Let me help you do that in the Website Creation Workshop. Go here for the next workshop.
I’d love to hear about it below…
Hi, Christina – My passion is helping people to live in peace and harmony with themselves and with others! I believe that if everyoen was pursuing their passion, there would be a lot less strife in the world!
Patricia
Patricia,
yes and there would not be the health, drug, or weight issues that many people have.
I know that once I started following my passion, I started spending less money on ‘stuff’
Have seen it almost three times myself, great movie. All musicians(including singers)must see this movie. I have been wrestling with fully understanding the subtle forms that fear and procrastination take, two subjects I’ve heard serve to keep our dreams in check. In thinking of the behavior of August throughout the movie, I would, no doubt, characterize him as fearless and proactive in his quest.
Joe,
I loved that even in the face of adversity, August continued to hold to his belief that he would find his parents with his music.
After I wrote this blog post, I went to amazon to order my own copy of the DVD. I want to watch it anytime I start to stray from my passion. To remind me about ‘staying the course’
Great message, Christina.
There are so many aspects to following one’s passions… from finding it, to developing it, to nurturing it, to monetizing it (if applicable), to keeping it going past all the naysayers.
Know only that you don’t have to go it alone. Support groups, mastermind teams, a trusted accountability partner, and outsourcing are all important ingredients to achieving a life lived with passion.
“Don’t wear fear, or nobody will know you’re there.” -Cat Stevens
Happy Valentines Day!
Barry,
Well put! Sometimes people have a hard time finding their passion. And that can mean kissing a lot of ‘frogs’ to really know what it is. That’s why it’s a good idea to try a lot of different things.
But once you do find it, then find out to make a living at that. Sometimes it’s not obvious at first, but with determination like August had in the movie, you will get there!
Hello Christina,
Thank you for sharing this clip. My passion is helping people get out of pain. Bodies are so logical but most of us just don’t know that (not even most of our doctors.) When people understand why they hurt and the natural steps they can take to become pain-free, they can feel so much better! My passion is sharing the information people need to feel better.
By helping me learn the technology I need to spread the word more easily, YOU have helped me live my passion. Thank you!
Kathryn
Kathryn,
Thank you for sharing! I always appreciate it when my students comment here on the public blog. (even though we have a members area as well)
I love your story about getting free from webmasters and being able to take control.
And I bet that many people are in physical pain, because of avoiding emotional issues. I know that happened to me once. I had a boyfriend who was not right for me. And I had a lot of back pain. I went to a healer who said: ” Get rid of that boyfriend and your pain will go away”
I did, and she was right!
Thanks for helping others with your work
Hi Christina,
Thank you for sharing your boyfriend story. Our “mind” is composed of our body and our brain. Everything acts together as one unit. We’re not a bunch of parts; we are one complete unit. Your story proves this. You got rid of the “pain in your back!”
Kathryn
Passion is sometimes the only driving force one has to accomplish goals. It will bring us information, the right people and the instinct for success. I see it every day with my students, but some actually reach past the difficulties and do accomplish their goals.
•Two things can get people to make efforts: if people want to get something, or if they want to get rid of something. Only, in ordinary conditions, without knowledge, people do not know what they can get rid of or what they can gain.

•It is only when we realize that life is taking us nowhere that it begins to have meaning.
As quoted in Zen and the Art of Making a Living : A Practical Guide to Creative Career Design (1999) by Laurence G. Boldt, p. 118
Alana,
I read Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance in high school, but I didn’t quite ‘get it’ then. (plus I was not into motorcycles)
So I’ll check out that other book.
People can be ‘moving away from’ or ‘moving towards’ people. Both can have a strong drive.
I like, for myself, the ‘moving towards’ direction. It makes me feel joyful!
🙂
I am passionate about the natural landscape. I love taking pictures and sharing with the world. I have been taking pictures for over 20 yrs but never seriously (had a family and pursued the wrong career). As of April last year after graduating with masters degree I needed something to fill the void. A friend of mine showed me some pictures she had taken and it awoke this passion i had had 20 yrs earlier. Almost immediately I dove right in and now spend all my waking hours studying and practicing photography. I can’t get enough. It’s an addiction. And now after spending the morning watching “The National Parks” Americas best idea know for sure that what really moves me is the beauty of the natural world, taking it in, experiencing it, living it and sharing its beauty with the world. I have no aspirations except to explore all these places i have never been to and just to simply feel the beauty wash over me. And to somehow evoke this feeling in the pictures i capture.
Robyn,
I love your comments! Yes, I would define a passion as something that you can’t wait to do when you wake up in the morning! A passion feels like an addiction!
I once went on a camping trip with a bunch of friends. In the morning as people were drinking their coffee around the fire, I pulled out my rough draft for a new training program and my marketing books. Someone commented to me
“Christina I’m so sorry you had to bring work on the camping trip”
I said:
“This is not work for me! This is what I love to do!”
I felt sad for that gal who did not recognize that entrepreneurship for me is the blending of my work, my art, and my life.
I’m so glad that you found photography as your passion.
(by the way wordpress will work great for you when you are ready to build a photography website)
I have not been happy with my “niche” choices for 2 years, and this has slowed me down. Last night I reviewed my life (Again!) and found that my passion is fostering communication, deep honesty and communication without fear. Then this a.m. I received your message,& my heart began to sing!
Skipper,
I’m so happy to hear how timely this blog post was for you! If you have not seen the movie “August Rush” I’d go rent it. It will help you stay clear on your passion.
I’m passionate about bringing hope to disadvantaged children and spreading joy to families everywhere. When I do this my heart sings and time flies. I feel blessed. I bring storytellers, artists and presenters to families, through Happy Kids Festival. The world’s first online festival of family fun. My life’s purpose is to tell a good night story to every child in the world. You can help me by tucking your child in with a good night story tonight. Love Annie
Annie,
I love it! Children can be a great source of inspiration. They naturally follow their passions.
Hi Christina ~ Well, you managed to make me cry! Tears of gratitude, hope and encouragement to NEVER GIVE UP on our passion, goals and dreams.
It’s funny… I did not have any dreams until late in life. Not to feel sorry… some people never find their passion, so I AM truly blessed with many gifts.
Thank You Christina for being a light in all of our lives. A beacon who brightens our path!
Happy Valentines Day!
Roz Fruchtman
I am passionate about making a difference by healing people, and by teaching people how to heal their pain, be it emotional, physical or mental.
Juliana,
what method of healing do you use?
Christina, i absolutely agree with what you say. I’ve seen the movie :o) It’s an awesome show. My problem is figuring out exactly what my passion is. I have so many things that i love and enjoy and do feel passionate about… but it gets so confusing!! I kind of start in one direction, come across something in another area, think OH! That’s it! and start to change direction.. then run across something about the 1st thing, or even a 3rd thing.. and get distracted again. Right now, i’m spending my life just confused :o( I’m hoping to learn more about marketing and web site design from you also, but i need some direction on exactly how to find the TRUE passion, and then how to shut off all the other noise that distracts me. I appreciate your time and posts :o)
Blessings,
Terri
Terri,
sometimes it’s easier to start with what DON’T you like to do, than with what you DO like to do.
Make a list of those things, and that will help narrow it.
Here is the question I like to ask:
What do you get excited about? What is it that you cannot wait to hop out of bed in the morning and do?
That will help you clarify your passion
Hi Christina,
Wish I could say below in fewer words but just not happening.
Thanks for always putting a “song” in my heart through your words and actions. I always knew I loved serving others and when I got trapped in my own setbacks, being traumatized by my own parents at a young age, I got stuck for DECADES. Never tried hard drugs or drinking, but did therapy and still no positive results. But recently I found one of the striking heartbeats right as MissionS: “I empower women who are financially challenged turn their passions into profits and live their dreams” (not indicating financial adviser/banker or investor) or “I empower I empower women who are financially challenged turn their frustrations into flow, make money, living their dreams!” Thanks for the gift of your presence in my life!
Happy Valentine’s Day “daily!”
I don’t want other women who are believing they will survive off social security if still around or retiring on crumbs of “dollars” closer to those years, believe what I have experienced as lies. I want them to become more “independent” from depending on others and help others along the way. My own story that has to be on “catch up” fast mode or I will remain the “victim” that I write of. I am so grateful I have come through it all and now “growing” past the hand I accepted without knowing how to break the chains of “bondage.” I’m FREE at LAST and just recently too!
Carol Giambri
Carol,
Yes, people use finances as an excuse to not follow their dreams.
I love seeing how much you have grown in the workshop, and look forward to having you return as an alumni in March
🙂
Thank you Christina for bringing this clip to us. I have seen the movie several times, and this clip captures what it is all about.
My passion is helping people become all that they were created capable of being, and you have helped me dvelop the technology to assist in that passion.
The creator does not make junk! All of us were given talents, but it is up to us to develop those talents, or not, as we choose.
If we choose to pursue our vision, there is a force that will assist us. That force is called by many names – but it exists! If we but conceive the vision, believe it, and take action to achieve it, It WILL happen!
Thank you for bringing us this message. Another great one is the story of Nick Vujicic.
All the best, Bill
Bill,
Yes the ‘force’ is in all of us!
When you use your creative powers/talents you are in the flow and it feels great!
Thank you Christina. My passion is to live what I might become; by letting go of what I am. To see the morning and each moment as new and full of possibility. To attract the situations and people into my life who are of like mind so we can create a more beautiful future for everyone. I am committed to being in the now and loving as much as I can from where ever I am. This is often most challenging with myself. I work with others to see that today is only a result of what was in the past and tomorrow is just a dream. By living in the now, and following their joy, people feel the miraculous in every breath.
with love, jackie
Watching children helps remind us to stay in the now
My passion is writing – I’m fascinated by the texture and flavor of words. I have been in love with words since I first learned to read in first grade: the teacher called my name and I went to the big book on the table and stood in awe as she began to reveal the hidden secret of the words contained in the letters. Circumstances of life have kept me from embracing the writing world, and so I content myself with emailing my friends and reading the words of others.
Start a blog!
If you like to write, then blogging will be easy for you. You are lucky, because in this internet age, writing is one of the most important talents!
I hope you choose to join me in the 8 module workshop next month. That would be a great place to have your talents come together in a website. (blog or not a blog)
Hi Christina, Everyone
My passion is music. As a child I wanted to be a singing cowboy, write and sing songs. I have been writing songs, singing them and teaching singing, guitar, and songwriting for 40 years.
My newest family singing course is out and for sale on the web, Amazon and eBay. Teach Yourself Singing If You Can Talk You Can Sing. I am writing 2 guitar books and 13 of my favorite composed songs are on iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster and EMusic. Healing Songs of Romance and Love, and a kids CD, Alaska Bear Adventure.
I just finished my 1st Singing Newsletter and my 1st National Interview about my new family singing course is tomorrow.
So I am still living and dreaming my passion.
May you do the same.
Happy Passions
Timothy Kelly
Timothy,
So glad you found your passion with singing.
I never knew I liked to sing until I had a child. The doctors/experts said: “Talk to your baby to help it develop”
Well I didn’t know what to say to a baby. So I started singing to her instead.
and I haven’t stopped!
🙂
Hi Christina
All babies in the womb and after being born love to be sung to. Same for children and most adults. Singing is the universal language.
Happy Singing
