If you live on the East Coast, and were affected by the storm,my heart goes out to you, and I hope your family is safe. We lived in the Sierra Mountains of California for many years and experienced snow storms and power outages all the time. So I know what you are going through. (This is part of why we moved down to San Diego)

Anyway, if you don’t live on the East Coast, your business is still affected by the storm, as many people in the country are distracted by the news of the event.

The Fishing Pier

Here is a pic of a pier on the Jersey Shore.  My mother owns a house near there, and we still don’t yet know what the damage is to her home.

Disasters, elections, holidays, and any major national news story will make it harder for you to promote your products and services.

So what do you do?

You use this time to clean up, re-group, plan, and strategize your business, your marketing, and your promotions. Do big picture thinking, and if you don’t have power, use the old fashioned pen and paper method of planning.

You will be more relaxed doing so, and you won’t feel behind.

Because you don’t ever want to promote during a time like this, as it will be much harder to get people’s attention.

UPDATE: Here is a pic of that same pier after the storm
