This past weekend I went to Blogworld in Las Vegas to check out the latest news and tech from the Industry conference on Blogging and Social Media. And I was surprised by my biggest takeaway from the conference…
Passion, that’s the takeaway! For example, wine lover: Gary Vaynerchuk built his business around his passion for wine. And that has turned into a very large business for him. Check out his site at tv.winelibrary.com Build a business around your passion, and your business will thrive!
You are so right Christina, thanks so much for the inspiration.
In my immediate analysis I am equating “content” with the words in our blogs. “Passion” is more subjective and was able only to boil it down to an increase in energy and/or the arousal of a strong feeling. More words: state of excitement or enthusiasm.
If you know your passion then just use your Wordtracker tool to connect the two together, I think that should do it.
Passion seems to be at the center of all creative success. Some years ago I asked a number of TV and film executives what they looked for when someone was pitching story ideas to them. They all said variations of “passion” and “enthusiasm.” Of course the ideas had to be good but what ultimately sold them was the writer’s passion.
Here is why you need to be passionate about your market and your topic: because you will have good days and bad days. So you need to be interested and passionate about what you are doing, to carry you through those bad days!
Here is my litmus test: would you still do this even if no one was paying you?
if the answer is ‘yes’ then it’s the right thing for you to pursue.
if the answer is ‘no’ then find another topic/market to go into
