Are you ready to have some fun? In preparation for the spring Website Creation Workshop, I’m reviving an old blog video this week. It’s always fun to introduce new readers to content I produced years ago, but that’s still just as relevant today.
“Julia Child” Teaches You WordPress!
If you have a blog or newsletter, shoot for creating evergreen content. Evergreen content doesn’t get stale or outdated. They’re articles that you can pull out a few years from now and share with your current audience, and they’re just as valuable now as they were when you first created them.
Think of a blog post as an article! Your website may have blog posts (or it may not). There are several factors to consider when deciding whether your website should have a blog. It really depends on the nature of your business and the purpose of your website.
Well today, “Julia Child” stopped by with her recipe for creating a blog post…and cooked up a storm in the kitchen.
In this episode – Julia Child Cooks Up a WordPress Blog Post…
Here are the steps to create a blog post…
Step 1: Start with a Good Idea!
You can write a blog post about anything! But be sure that it’s something your readers will be interested in. Otherwise, they’ll move on to a different website or unsubscribe from your newsletter.
(In another article, I share five content creation ideas to help you get started if you need a little inspiration)
Step 2. Write Some Meaty Content!
Step 3. Create a Catchy Title
Creating a catchy title is key to getting people to read your blog article. First off, figure out the main point or theme of your post.
Then, try to capture what makes it interesting or unique in the title. Keep it short and sweet, so readers know exactly what they’re getting into.
Use exciting words like action verbs or questions to make it more attention-grabbing. For example:
“The Ultimate Guide to Planning Your Dream Vacation”
“5 Simple Habits to Boost Your Productivity and Focus”
“The Top 7 Mistakes to Avoid When Starting a Small Business”
Step 4: Spice up Your Blog Post with Keywords
Step 5: Publish Your Post!
Hi Christina,
Wow! Your videos just keep getting better and better… You’re a great teacher and *surprise* a comedienne too! I love it that you are showing people that being a serious teacher doesn’t mean you can’t be playful sometimes…
Really looking forward to this Fall session of WCW – and Thank You for letting all past students know how to update our blogs quickly – I updated all 3 of my blogs to the latest version a couple days ago and it was easy (with your video guidance… of course!)
Thanks for a great laugh!
Love,
Maritza
Christina,
Your a riot…I guess the kids and hubby are not around while Julie is creating….LOL
Is it a little chilly where you are ?
Thanks for the smile and info…..
Great Day to you !
Katrina
Ohh I’ll have to look for that replay of Phil Donahue with Julia Child.
Yes, my daughter (who is into acting) and I have been brainstorming up all kinds of fun and goofy videos to do.
Marketing is fun! And so is WordPress!
🙂 Christina
Christina,
This was hilarious! Thanks so much for risking the edge, you’re a natural comedienne. Awesome stuff.
Looking forward to the next Website Creation Workshop.
Adela
BRAVO!!! Christina – these are Brilliant! Giving me some ideas for my photography site…….
I am looking forward to the next installment.
Mary
Here is another tip:
If you would like to have your photo show up when you make a comment on any wordpress website/blog
Then watch this short video I did
https://websitecreationworkshop.com/blog/wordpress-tips/how-to-get-your-photo-to-show-up-in-your-comments/
on getting your Gravatar photo to show up.
It works for any WordPress website!

Take one part humor, three parts parts website creation information, and one part Christina Hills having so much fun as Julia Child — mix together and voila — you get a unique and fascinating recipe for website creation lessons!
Christina: I learned quite a bit from your webinar that was posted last week, so thanks for that great intro to website creation and marketing! I am new to all this!
Sheryl,
Glad you liked that webinar! I’ll be sending out more stuff this week
Christina,
Absolutely clever. Great idea to borrow, but surely you are just the original of you. Where are the other videos mentioned?
When I describe to people I discovered my WHAT they are confused. So I describe it as a ingredients in a cake mix. When the final outcome is arrived, it is the “cake.” I never know how to take the ingredients and what the result would be. Now I found the WHAT: to help ladies over 50 choosing change to thrive, not just survive, prospering in health/wellness and dreaming bigger. I had my Why I wanted to do what I loved doing, but lacked how to create the package. I now get the picture DECADES later. Better late then never and still on time!

Carol,
I can see that you have a passion for your market! I love that, because folks who have a passion for their business often succeed the most!

I saw Julia Childs live once, when she was doing the Phil Donahue show at NBC. Suddenly, some smoke starts up and she shrieks –
“Oh my word, the towel’s on fire! Put it in the sink! there we go. Turn the wah-ter ohn… and that’s that. Next! Where’s my glass of wine?”
and she went on. It was a hoot! Just like this video. Thanks for the hoot, and nice definition of keywords!
Didn’t I last see “Julia” on an episode of Monty Python??!!
And now, for something completely different….
Bill,
If you know where that Monty Python episode is, I’d love to see it!
Dear Christina:
We don’t know each other, but you’re the greatest. This video was hilarious.
I can see from your preview webinars that you are an expert in WordPress. I do use WordPress, but learned a few tricks from attending the webinar alone. Can just imagine how great the class will be.
BON APPETIT…

Roz,
We have a great time in the course too! I especially love to see all the sites that people make in my course
Here are some samples:

This is hysterical. I’m still trying to pick myself up off the floor at your acting and your creativity (your ‘GOOD IDEA”)
Way to go Christina! and thank you – I needed that tonight
Terrie
Christina,
How did you do that with a straight face!!!! You are truly amazing in everything you do.
I browse around at other WordPress classes but yours is really the best there is. None are better for continued content, easy to understand instructions and a wealth of information that really works.
You are the greatest at what you do.
Alan
Loved this video…did you take acting lessons? You’ve got the accent and gestures. Love coming back as an alum and these videos give us something to tweet about! Wish more copywriting clients would sign up. I hate it when they wait a year or more to get the copy up and running because the webmaster vanishes.
Christina, what a standout performer you are. So creative! Who knew WordPress websites could be so fun (and yummy to make!)?
I’m telling all my clients and colleagues about your super teaching and mentoring skills, how patient you are, and how much they’ll know at the end of the course. I look back in amazement at all you’ve taught me in a few short months. I’ll be back as an alum: such a great bonus for signing up for the course.
Thank you so much!
Debra
Thank you everyone for your kind words. I really had fun doing these videos, (can’t you tell!)
And I still laugh every time I watch them! Even though I’ve seen my “Julia Child” video hundreds of times.
(cause we’re deep into the promotion)
I’m so excited to teach this class, and am excited to open the doors tomorrow.
You’ll get another email in the morning….
🙂
Hi Christina!
Love this! You rock. This is seriously great. Great idea, great content, and great costume.
To Your Continued Success,
Dominic
Just wanted to tell you how cute your Julia Child posts have been. I really enjoyed them. How cleaver. Wish I had found you before I did all my website and blog creation. It would probably have been a lot easier. Good luck.
“Your Order Has Shipped.” Wow when I didn’t expect anything or maybe overlooked that I was going to be getting “package.” It’s feeling like Christmas in September! Or, an early anniversary present I bought me secretly which is really in a few days. If he forgets after decades now of celebrating I’ve got it covered. Thank you Christina for the surprise maybe you wrote of but missed and okay.
Wow, wouldn’t you love seeing money roll in like that? New clients magically appear? I would.
I have one website request for meal delivery service for sister in law. Easy: tabs for about, menu of the week, newsletter maybe and possibly shopping cart or pay pal button. She would write content and I would copy/paste and add the theme. I don’t want to be VA or website creator as my focus is ladies over 50 audience, so creating I can see a shell for several small businesses. I don’t want to maintain and will pass that on to VA. A way to recoup the investment with other small businesses is my quick goal. Wondering about the fee as some are more strapped but then again many aren’t. I don’t mind giving away some gifts as others have blessed me with so perhaps more reasonable to start. Aiming that she will tell others about me and I will surely put that on the website too. Not sure what a basic website design could get?
I’m excited and ready to roll.
I know that I need the hand to hold, see another online offer for much less, but I love Christina’s teaching style so I can see quick application for hubby, self and sister in law. Without start of class, Christina I can see will and does over deliver. I want to be an over deliver as she models and some others I have seen here. I love more than I expect mentality.
May your wonderful ideas, creativity and your outpouring into our lives keep us unique in our own way to grow.
May you be blessed abundantly forever Christina. You are awesome!

Marvelous indeed! I believe even a child of a Primary school could understand you. This is the way to teach us newbies in business blogging. Thank you so much!
James,
That is my goal: to make things simple enough a school kid could understand. Thanks for noticing!
😉

Melinda,

Hi Christina,
Love the Julia Child and Alice in Wonderland videos. They’re so creative and funny. Well done, too. Shamus told me about them when I was sitting next to him and Frank Kern’s event.
If Julia Child is an idol of yours and you enjoy cooking, you might enjoy learning how you can WOW your guests with easy fruit carving. You can get a free lesson on how to make a beautiful centerpiece from Radishes at my blog http://vegetablefruitcarving.com/blog/free-video-instructions/
Check it out.
Nita,
