After watching the movie Julie & Julia, I felt inspired to channel my inner Julia Child—not to roast a chicken or flip a crêpe, but to whip up something even more delightful: a blog post! So get ready to have some fun, because today “Julia Child” is in the kitchen, and in the video below, she’s showing you exactly how it’s done.

Watch “Julia Child” is Cook Up a Blog Post!

In this episode, “Julia Child” is in the Kitchen Cooking up a Blog Post!

If you have a blog or newsletter, you want to create evergreen content. Evergreen content doesn’t get stale or outdated. They’re articles that you can pull out a few years from now and share with your current audience, and they’re just as valuable now as they were when you first created them.

Think of a blog post as an article! Your website may have blog posts (or it may not). There are several factors to consider when deciding whether your website should have a blog. It depends on the nature of your business and the purpose of your website.

Here are the steps to create a blog post…

Step 1:  Start with a Good Idea!

You can write a blog post about anything! So start with a Good Idea and be sure that it’s something your readers will be interested in. Otherwise, they’ll move to a different website or unsubscribe from your newsletter.

(In another article, I share five content creation ideas to help you get started if you need a little inspiration)

Step 2. Write Some Meaty Content!

Now that you’ve considered your good idea and designated an empty post, it’s time to write that “meaty” article. Don’t expect to be able to sit down and write a high-quality article in 30 min.

Although there are new AI tools like ChatGPT that can speed up the process, a good blog article might take a couple of hours and lots of revisions. While you are blocking out your blog post, you can use temporary “Latin” text while you come up with your ideas.  You can add “Meat and Vegetables” to your website with these tools.

Always keep your reader in mind and provide delicious (i.e., helpful, encouraging, and valuable) content that will keep them returning for more.

Step 3. Create a Catchy Title

Creating a catchy title is key to getting people to read your blog article. First off, figure out the main point or theme of your post.

Then, try to capture what makes it interesting or unique in the title. Keep it short and sweet so readers know exactly what they’re getting into.

Use exciting words like action verbs or questions to make it more attention-grabbing. For example:

“The Ultimate Guide to Planning Your Dream Vacation”
“5 Simple Habits to Boost Your Productivity and Focus”
“The Top 7 Mistakes to Avoid When Starting a Small Business”

Step 4: Spice Up Your Blog Post with Keywords

And don’t forget to sprinkle in some SEO (Search Engine Optimization) keywords to make it more discoverable on search engines. How? Research relevant and popular keywords related to your topic. Then, use these keywords in your title, meta description, and throughout your post in a natural and relevant way.

Step 5: Publish Your Post!

The last step is to publish your post to the world.  Send it out via email to your subscribers using an email marketing system like ConvertKit, AWeber, ActiveCampaign, or many others.

It’s time to enjoy the fruit of your labor and engage with your readers through their responses! Bon Appetit!
