Since 4.3 is a major update (ie. not a minor security update), you might need to manually run an update on your WordPress sites unless you have a hosting account that handles it for you. If you are not sure how to update your WordPress, refer to this step by step article.
This Short Video Shows You Highlights of WordPress 4.3
Use Shortcuts to Quickly Format Your Text
If you like using keyboard shortcuts to format your text without having to grab your mouse to click on the editor menu or toolbar to create lists and headings, you’ll love this feature. WordPress 4.3 comes with more shortcuts to make this possible.
Just type “##Text” in the page/post editor and hit enter. You’ll see the “Text” is now shown in the <h2> format. An asterisk (“*”) quickly creates an unordered list. A less-than sign (“<“) turns the text after that into a blockquote.
Easily Update Menu Items in Customizer
You can now update your menu items right in the customizer (Appearance – Customize) even more easily and quickly! The new and improved intuitive interface makes it so easy for the users to update the menu in a flash. And as this is done in the customizer, you can preview the new menu right there, too.
Add Site Icons from Customizer
Site icons are those little icons that appear in browser tabs and bookmark menus. When you put a shortcut to a website on your mobile device’s home screen, you’ll see the site’s icon, too.
Adding a site icon hasn’t been a quick and easy task… until now. WordPress 4.3 comes with a function to add your own site icon easily from the customizer. It even allows you to upload different icons for the browsers (“favicon”) and mobile devices (“touch icon” and “tile icon”) .
Always Have Strong Password
In spite of the increased number of hacking, many people still tend to gravitate towards easy-to-remember passwords when they create new users or update their WordPress passwords. This is not a good practice, and WordPress 4.3 has taken a step to fix it.
WordPress now automatically generates a strong password for you whenever you try updating your password. Also, when a new user is created, WordPress sends him/her a password reset link instead of the actual password in the email. Now that’s a great security practice!
